Thank you for writing such an extensive response to an opinion piece, and ultimately a personal one, about a book that is situated in an ideology that I do not agree with. I am truly flattered, as having a thought provoking impact on people is why I write. Your accusation that I am imposing my ideas on people is a curious take to the very notion of writing and sharing a piece that one can choose to read or not. When I read an article that I disagree with, I never feel that anything is being imposed on me. However, you are right that I am disparaging Kendi’s baby book as it embodies an ideology that I feel is harmful and is worth disparaging—and I can do so in an open democratic society. And engaging in such dialogue is how I am working to fight against racism, including continually challenging the ideology of anti racism.
