Ragged and desperate for cover, a band of youth scanned their surroundings in search of shelter before the sunrise.

They had just hiked up a mountain and needed to find a hiding place to avoid detection. Fortunately, they stumbled upon an enlarged opening on the ground and hastily retreated there to bide their time until nightfall.

As they huddled in the makeshift shelter, they soon realized it was the hallowed ground from a recently exhumed coffin.

Moments later, three tomb sweepers passed by the large cavity.

One of the young women in the group cautiously peered out and locked eyes with one of the approaching men. However, he walked by them without calling attention.

For sure, she thought, these men will alert the authorities and they will be captured. Dread filled the group as the hours stretched to night.

Once surrounded by darkness, they emerged from their hiding place. With only the whites of their eyes visible to each other, they continued to hike to the opposite side of the mountain. Eventually, before the sunrise, they reached the Pearl River where they would swim to freedom.
